Halloween Party

So I let each of my kids invite a few friends over for a halloween party Friday night. I planned all kinds of fun games and activities to do, but they had ideas of their own. All together we had 18 guests, my 4 kids and Kristins 3 kids, we had a house full. Bryce is gone with the military so I asked my wonderful sister if she could come help and she willingly agreed. Thanks Kristin for coming all the way out here just to help, it was fun. We ended up making homemade slime. That was the hit of the party! And them we played the mummy wrap game. While playing the mummy game I opened my big mouth and said it would be fun to take the used toilet paper and go toilet papering, of course all the kids wanted to do it after that. Kristin reminded me it was illegal because of vandalism and with my husband being a police officer it probably wasn't a good idea. I decided to let them go anyway, but they had to do MY house!! They had a lot of fun, but now I have a mess outside to clean up. That will teach me to open my mouth!! I had one of the parents call me before the party for a reminder of when it started, after telling him and giving him some other details he asked me if I was stupid, I laughed and said "Oh it"ll be fun!". When he came back to pick his daughter up, seeing the mess in the yard, when I opened the door his first comment was "you are stupid!". I may be crazy, but we had fun!!

Bryce Farewell Party

Bryce is leaving soon for his deployment, so I decided to have a farewell openhouse for him. I wanted him to be able to visit with his friends and family he doesn't get a chance to see very often before he left. We had a really good turn out and a great time. Thanks to all of those that were able to make it, we really appreciate your visit and your support.
We lit a fire in the fire pit and while people were gathered around we decided to retire our flag that had become torn and tattered because of the wind. Anyway, I think it is very neat to watch the American Flag burn and to have a moment of silence to honor the many men and women who have lost their lives for our freedoms. As hard as it is to have Bryce leave, I am very proud of him and his willingness to serve our country. I Love you Bryce and I'm really going to miss you. THANK YOU!!
More pictures will come later. I was too busy keeping up with the food and guest to take a lot of pictures. Kristin was the photographer for the night, when I get the pictures from her I will post more. Thanks Kristin Love ya.

October snow

As most of you know Roy received a lot of snow last weekend, I think we got about 11". My kids spent most of the day outside. I've never seen them so excited to shovel the driveway. Anyway, these are some pictures of the fun they had in the snow.

Bee Sting!

Rylee got stung by a bee on Monday night while jumping on the trampoline. She is allergic to bee's so she usually swells pretty bad. I thought this time might be different because she was fine all night Monday night and all through the day on Tuesday. Boy was I wrong, this is how she looked when I woke her up for school this morning!

She has a pretty funny sense of humor, she woke Bryce up to show him and she told him she was half chinese. I gave her a pirate eye patch left over from Brenans birthday party and she wore that to school to be funny.(I didn't get a picture of that, the batteries in my camera went dead and I couldn't find any new ones in time sorry. It was pretty funny though).

Sorry the pics not very good I'll play with it and try to lighten it!

PRAYERS NEEDED!

Some of you may have seen the article in the paper about the bad car accident on 12th Street last Thursday. Well the driver of the Toyota was my aunt. She has multiple broken bones on the left side of her body. She had to be placed on oxygen the other day and was recently put into ICU because she has a collapsed lung. Please keep her in your prayers. She is going to have a long road to recovery.

Orders

I've been a slacker!! Now that I'm back at work and volunteering daily my blogging has stopped. I'll catch up soon.

I thought I would let all my friends and family who don't already know, Bryce received his deployment orders for Iraq on Tuesday. His orders are from October 6, 2008 thru January 4, 2010. The unit is staying in Salt Lake during the month of October and then leaving for California for some training in November. The good news is he gets to come home on the 26th of November for Thanksgiving, and then he leaves again on December 1st for the rest of the deployment.

I've tried to stay positive though this preparation period to make it easier for him to know that we are going to be OK, I don't want him getting over there and worrying constantly about us, (he will anyway), but now that the orders are here and the date is getting closer it's getting hard!! It is really hard to stay positive when you are having attorneys make out a Will "just in case." I've started making a paper chain with the kids to keep track of how long till he comes home. It's going to cover my whole house by the time we're done. I did this when he went to Kuwait also and the kids loved it!

I want to thank all our family and friends for thier love and support through all of this preparation and waiting, and let them know how much it means to both Bryce and myself. Neither one of us could do this without knowing we have good friends and family to help us out. We love you all!!

headbands and bows

I have been making cork screw hair clips for a my girls and the nieces and my sister KariAnn decide that I should try to sell them. I decided that I would try to sell interchangeable headbands to go with them. I found the cutest crocheted headbands that work really well with any clip. Here is a preview of some that I put together.

I have quite a few colors of headbands and bows, and the headbands come in 1 1/2 inches for infants or 3 inches for older girls and adults. They are so fun to mix and match

Summer Fun

Bryce took a couple weeks off of work so that he could spend some time with the kids before he leaves for Irag, this is how he spent most of the two weeks. After his little vacation he went back to work for about a week and was offered a job with Ogden City Police Department, he doesn't start until August 18th, but he still had some leave time at Davis County, so he decided to use the rest of his leave and have another vacation. So, he took another week off work before heading out with this Marine Corps unit for annual training. He and the kids have had a lot of fun this summer.

We went to the rodeo during the week of the 24th of July, Brenan and EmmaLee were doing the muttin bustin. KariAnn had to leave early and left her kids with us and her youngest daughter Hailey wouldn't go to anyone but Bryce.

Rylee and Rashele and I got to go to day camp with the Activity days girls. It's the first time our ward has every gone, it was a lot of fun.

Mini Me

Bryce has been going through his gear issued to him by the Marine Corps making sure every thing is in order before his deployment, and the boys decided they would help. I caught them on the front lawn trying to pick up one of Bryce's packs. It was pretty funny. If they were able to lift it up they didn't stay standing long.

Noland tried to help Brenan lift it up. No sucess

Brenan couldn't even walk with this gear on, that alone was too heavy

Can you believe he has to wear all of that gear?

ball games, ball games, ball games

Monday thru Thursday nights all we do is go to ball games. Bryce and Rylee both play on Monday and Wednesday nights, and Noland and Brenan both play on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Rashele decided not to play this year, she didn't like it much last year. I played with Bryce last year, but, I decided it was too hard with both of us playing and he enjoys it much more than I do, so I just cheer him on. It's much more fun to be on the bleachers watching anyway. Here are just a few highlights from some of their games.
Bryce up at bat, and on third base waiting to run home
Noland at bat (this was a home run hit)

Brenan sliding into home

Rylee ready at third base

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life was a lot of fun this year. I took my kids for the first time this year since we walked in honor of my dad we thought it would be fun to do it as a family. I invited a the family of a little girl in our ward that has leukemia to walk with us this year also. It was neat to see her lead the survivors lap, it brought tears to my eyes.

The Jazz bear was there and we were able to get some pictures with him.

The weather didn't cooperate with us very well hence the coats, we got rained on quite a bit, but we still had fun. My dad wasn't able to be there this year because of his trip to Brazil, hopefully we can all make it next year. And we would love to have anybody who would like to come with us next year. .

Random Pics

It has been forever since I posted anything so I thought I would post a few random pictures.

This is a picture of the hair clips I made all of the girl grandkids. We are selling some of these at the Relay for Life in Ogden June 6th and 7th.

We met at my Parents house on Easter day and had a easter egg hunt. I made my kids stand long enough for me to get pictures of them in their Easter clothes.

For Memorial Day we went to Maliya and Makayla's grave and spent some time there reminiscing on the last twelve years. It's hard to believe they would be twelve years old this year and going into Young Womens.

Another school year has come and gone and I am looking forward to having the summer off. I don't know what I am going to do with myself. I have really enjoyed working at the school with my kids.

Bryce and I are looking for someplace fun to take the kids this summer before he leaves for his deployment, if any of you have any fun ideas please let me know. We were thinking of Dinosaur Land, but haven't made any definate plans yet.

Valentine

So Rylee is only 10 and is spoiled and had a better Valentine than I did. She has this boy at school who has liked her forever that brought her a Valentine's Day gift. He was go cute, he came to the door and handed it to me and asked if I would give it to Rylee. The whole time she was standing right behind me. I'm in for a lot of trouble when Rylee becomes a teenager. She's been boy crazy since she was 3.
I did have a good Valentine too. I had a late Valentine date, Bryce had to work Thursday so he took me to dinner and movie Friday night instead. We went to see JUMPER, neither one of use thought it was very good.

Cross Country Skiing

Last weekend the girls and I went up to Trefoil Ranch in Provo Canyon with the girl scouts and had a mother/daughter weekend. On Saturday morning we went cross country skiing. It was a lot of fun, but I was sore afterward. I used muscles I didn't know I had.

We also learned how to make cute scrapbook boxes. They are so cute but very complicated. I brought all of them home unfinished and the girls want me to finish thiers for them

We're finally finished!!

It has taken forever, but we are finally finished with the boys bedroom! I told them now that it took so long to draw, tape, and paint their room, that it will stay that way until they move out and maybe longer. I'm not doing that again. We have a metal Yankee Stadium sign that we still have to hang up, and a friend of mine is making a vinyl sign that will say "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." Now it's time to start on the living room or kitchen. By time I get my whole house done it will be time to start all over!
